heads up: the free ebooks bots are being shut down in around 60 hours. this only applies to the bots i host, and not any hosted by other people.

if you'd like your ebooks bot to stay up, you have several options:
- you can pledge the ebooks tier on my patreon: patreon.com/lynnesbian this is US$2.50 per month.
- you can ask me for the bot credentials and files, and host it yourself, using this guide: cloud.lynnesbian.space/s/jozbR
- you can ask around and see if anyone would like to host your bot for you

thank you for understanding

#fmjail copyedits done! Working on print page layout now.

Having just reviewed the entire manuscript, I'd like to present the most useful #sysadmin tidbit in the entire book. It's a useful mantra for everyone:

"Nothing is secure. Everything is terrible."

Fediverse, is anyone aware of some technical projects that could use developer-facing documentation written over the next couple days? I need to make new technical writing samples for a position I applied for. Sadly the stuff I've previously written is all either long-gone on previous employers' servers, end-user documentation, or otherwise unavailable.

OK, I think I've managed to crop out something nice. Someday I should see where people post actual good NASA images and such again, I always forget.

By way of Slashdot, CNN (and others) are posting about Opportunity's last 360 panorama being available now. Here's the actual link: mars.nasa.gov/resources/22341/ and it may just be time to switch from my picture of NGC6357. Lets see if I can find a good one..

Oh Google Music. Looking over their radio stations thing, I see "Shiny, Happy Pick-Me-Ups" and the album cover mashup picture has Born in the USA in it. Preeeetty sure there's nothing in that album that counts as Shiny Happy Pick-Me-Up...

"We don't have an ETA for a new signature from MS which would unblock us. At *best*, we're expecting a few weeks. It's out of our control."

Debian has been unable to build their installer for almost a month now because of a SNAFU and only Microsoft can really unblock it. Wow.

I know we all like to hate but you know what else sucks? NetworkManager and Ubuntu combined with systemd. To finish the band-aid on my problem with and systemd-resolved, I turned off systemd-resolved, installed resolvconf and then muttered and cursed about nothing using the DNS server being given by my router (caching happens there, not every machine). Finally found blog.mesouug.com/2018/09/22/ho with the magic two lines to make NetworkManager update resolvconf
